Martinez to return tomorrow

Paul Gereffi at MLB.com writes about Pedro Martinez and his return to action tonight:

His pending return is a good sign for a team getting ready to make its stretch run.

"This is real good news for us," Jose Reyes said. "He's one of the best pitchers in the game.

Every time he takes the mound he puts the team in a position to win."

Martinez's return could energize the team for the final weeks of the season.

"He brings a lot of energy, a lot of passion and a lot of fire when he takes the mound," David Wright said. "It's good to get him back in the swing of things because we'll need him in the stretch run."

When Martinez returns, manager Willie Randolph is planning to return to a five-man rotation.

"We'll have to drop somebody out and we'll let them know in a week or so," Randolph said. "It won't necessarily be two guys. I could keep [Oliver] Perez or [Dave] Williams."
