Omar Wants To Win- PERIOD!!!!

I know that there has been a lot of coverage lately deriding Omar Minaya for signing so many hispanic players in short order. Without throwing mud back at these folks (being kind here), let's simply remember one thing- Minaya is here to win ballgames, as many as possible, as quickly as possible, period! Do I wish there were more African-American players on the roster? Of course- however, there have been many periods where there was only one prominent Mets' player who happened to be of African-American heritage (John Milner). Omar doesn't care what skin color, heritage or religion his players are- he simply wants winners on his team! It so happens that the Mets have not taken advantage of the wealth of young, talented players from areas such as the Dominican and Venezuela before, and this shows that Omar won't be pidgeon-holed into doing things the way they've always been done. I have Wright, Reyes, Floyd, Beltran and Martinez jerseys (and Cameron & Piazza), and plan on getting Delgado, Wagner and Glavine jerseys tbis year- because THEY ARE METS!!!!!!!! No other reason!! If they wear the orange and blue, they are our team, and that's all we should be concerned about. Let's all grow up and not insult the legends of great men like Jackie Robinson & Roberto Clemente, who did so much for the dissolution of old prejudices in this game of ours, not to mention that we just celebrated the life of MLK, who, if you didn't realize it, didn't simply strive for African-American rights, but for the rights of EVERYONE. In that vein, let's get past this ignorance, and discuss what's important- LESS THAN ONE MONTH UNTIL PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT!!!
