Worst Trade Ever- And Samuel Is Back With Us Again??!!
You can read it here...http://www.bmets.com/news/index.asp - but it's true- Juan Samuel is back with the Mets, as manager of our Double A Binghamton team. Here I was, hoping for Dykstra or Backman to get this job, and now the man we traded Dykstra (&McDowell) for is back to haunt us a second time. I don't care if he is the best coach/manager we could hire- I don't want Jim Fregosi, Bobby Bonilla, George Foster, Vince Coleman, Carlos Baerga, Robbie Alomar or Mo Vaughan ever having anything to do with our organization- and Samuel is part of this group, too. He represents the downfall of the '86 team and most of us still harbor bitter feelings at the loss of our beloved "Nails" for the long-on-potential, short-on-results Samuel. Jonathan and I differ- I still think the Seaver trade was worse, but his point remains- this is the deal that signalled the downfall of the most exciting team in our history, and in this, the 20th year anniversary of that team, I didn't think it was too much to ask to bring back important Mets from that time....let's hope this is a one year and out kind of move! Just when Omar was on a great roll...
