Pedro Is 9 - 0??? No??? Well, Can Someone BUY Him A Victory??!!

Has Pedro Martinez become a hard-luck pitcher? Well, after last night, one would think so. His line for the evening:

Pitchers IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA
P Martinez (L, 5-1) 7.0 5 2 2 0 10 1 94-67 2.79

He struck out 10, walked no one, had great movement on his fastball, and weathered the stupidity of the umps making him take off his black warm-up shirt from underneath his uniform although it's approved by MLB, only to see the game get away from the bullpen once again. Pedro was dominant again, and losing games he stakes us leads in is a dangerous precedent if it is allowed to continue. Pedro is not just the leader of the staff- he's the heart of the team, and we need him to remain happy with his teammates and not wondering how well (and how many innings) he will have to pitch in order to squeak out a victory. Pedro is bound to throw some clinkers this season, but has yet to really do so, and it's a shame we haven't put him in position to be the first 10-game winner in the league this year and at such an early point in the season. Let's hope Glavine gets #8 today, and Pedro gets some support in the form of runs and bullpen support next time around (and the time after that, and the time after that, and the time after that....)
