Perez to the bullpen?

Matthew Cerrone at Metsblog writes about El Duque and Oliver Perez possibly going to the bullpen:

Steve Trachsel will start tonight against the Rockies, followed by Dave Williams on Wednesday, Oliver Perez on Thursday and Tom Glavine on Friday in Houston…

Initially, Orlando Hernandez, who was scratched from his last start, was slated to pitch Thursday, instead of Perez……

from what i can gather, two things are at play…

…first, i’ve heard they’ll wait on a decision to pitch el duque after seeing him throw from the bullpen prior to a game in colorado…if all goes well, his next start will be on saturday, as i mentioned yesterday morning…

…lastly, there is a small buzz around shea suggesting that the team wants another long look at perez because some people think he could be useful as a left-handed power-arm in the bullpen during october…
