Cliff put to the test

Marty Noble at Mets.com writes about Willie Randolph challenging Cliff Floyd:

Simplified, the message Randolph sent during his morning meeting with Floyd was this: "You can't change what's happened, so get over it, move on and help us win."

"I heard him," Floyd said later, about an hour before the Mets began their final game -- perhaps -- against the Dodgers this season. "I've had a tough year. It hasn't been what I wanted it to be.

But Willie said, 'Why sweat it? You can't make it better now. But you can make people forget it if you get yourself ready and play the rest of the way the way you can.'

"The words Randolph spoke may have been more in the form of a challenge, Floyd said."He told me what he wanted, what he expected," said the outfielder. "You know, it was what he was demanding."
