Darling for WTC Memorial

Paul D. Colford at The NY Daily News writes about Ron Darling and Al Leiter appearing in commercials for WTC Memorial donations:

Former hurlers Ron Darling and Al Leiter are making a pitch for donations to build the World Trade Center Memorial.

They've recorded separate 30-second messages that will run before, during and after cable broadcasts of the Yankees' and Mets' remaining games, as well as during postseason coverage.

"I remember the Mets honoring the rescue workers by wearing the caps representing the city's relief organizations," Darling, now an Mets announcer on the SportsNet New York network, says in the spot.

"We need to come together again," he adds.
