The wrath of Beltran

Bryan Hoch at Mets.com writes about Carlos Beltran and the comeback he wanted so bad and got:

David Wright and Jose Reyes saw 'it' in Spring Training. Carlos Delgado speaks of 'it' as more of an audible item, relayed through vocal inflections and conversations.

'It' was the inner fire that Carlos Beltran carried with him to Port St. Lucie with the Mets this spring, a quiet determination to reverse events that had previously gone wrong.

The message struck a chord. This season, Beltran meant business.

"I knew he was going to have a great year," Reyes said. "When he came into Spring Training, he came ready. He was hungry to play. I said, 'This guy's going to have a good year.' And he's still hungry. Yeah, he still wants to play."
