Pedro's on no vacation

Christian Red at the Daily News writs about Pedro Martinez and how he's in a fight to make it back after the All-Star break:

His favorite salsa music pumping from the stereo speakers, Pedro Martinez climbs on a stationary bicycle in the private gym in the home of his brother (and former major league pitcher) Ramon and begins pedaling. The three-time Cy Young winner and Mets ace has a four to five-hour afternoon workout ahead of him on this Thursday, a regimen he has been steadfastly following every weekday over the last three and a half months.

"This is vacation for all other players," Martinez says with a smile. "I've had a long winter."

Sweat trickles down Martinez's face. He dabs his forehead and neck with a towel and stares ahead stoically at the peaceful view beyond Ramon's home in the exclusive Los Cacicazgos neighborhood (named after an indigenous rock), part of the western fringe of the island's capital.
