Pelfrey To Get The Call

Toby Hyde at Shea Baseball, writes about Mike Pelfrey and the probability of him getting the call up:

Marty Noble reports that Mike Pelfrey is the frontrunner to start one end of the Mets doubleheader in Philly. I had this one a few days ago, but forgot to write. Someday I’ll scoop the man. Pelfrey had an OK outing Friday night with both good and bad.

Pelfrey Out?

Ken Davidoff at On The Mets Beat, writes about Mike Pelfrey and asks the question, is Pelfrey going back to Triple-A?:

Interesting situation developing with Mike Pelfrey, who could be facing some pressure as Orlando Hernandez works his way back from shoulder bursitis. He continues to have trouble in the first inning with a 12.60 ERA and falling behind in the first inning is an ominous statistic for the Mets, who have been outscored this season, 17-12, in that frame. They also are 13-1 when the score first; 6-10 when they don't.

Is it worth it to stick with Pelfrey? Or if Jorge Sosa continues to pitch well, and Hernandez returns next week, is he better off fixing himself at Triple-A New Orleans? Just a conversation starter for this morning (I know it's the afternoon back East, but it's 10:15 a.m. in the Bay Area.)

Pelfrey's Learning

At Rotoworld, they write about Mike Pelfrey and how he might be getting the hang of things:

Mike Pelfrey bounced back from a three-run first to hold the Marlins scoreless over the next 5 1/3 innings on Tuesday night.

The showing still resulted in a loss, but it was Pelfrey’s first quality start in four tries this season. He earned himself at least one more turn through the rotation with the performance. It should come Sunday in Arizona. NL-only leaguers will want to keep him reserved.
