Piazza to Pads?

Well, all things being equal, if Mikey P can't be in our blue & orange, I guess it's okay to be in the Padres blue, white and gold. Better there than the Phils or Yanks. Although GM Kevin Towers initially stated that Piazza would play "some" first base in addition to catching, here's hoping that he's wearing the "tools of ignorance" far more than a first-baseman's mitt- in spite of how badly Art Howe handled the transition, Piazza's 1B skills are nothing to get excited about. Here's betting that, with a completely healthy season, in spite of San Diego's vast outfield expanse, Mikey hits 24 homers, knocks in 77 runs, hits .285 and the pitchers on the staff love throwing to him because he calls a good game and has "soft hands". I remain convinced that Piazza's numbers will exceed those of PLD's this year, and the idea of Mikey hitting his 400th dinger for another organization sits as well with me as George Thomas Seaver getting his 300th win in a White Sox uniform did. Oh well- can't win 'em all...Good luck, Mike, and thanks for so many years of greatness!!!
