Clemens Signs With Astros- ONLY Gets $3.5 Mil Per Month

In the "Have Gun, Will Travel" department, Roger Clemens has apparently worked out a contract with the Astros today that will pay him $3.5 million per month for the rest of the season. Let's see- that's approximately $600,000 per start if he makes 30 starts. We guess he didn't want to offend either the Red Sox or Yankees, and he never played with the Rangers, so it's probably too late in his career to learn another organization. At least the Central Division will be more of a battle.
HOLD THE PRESSES- ASTROS DENY SIGNING IS DONE DEAL, DETAILS TO FOLLOW AS MADE AVAILABLE!!!
HOLD THE PRESSES AGAIN- CLEMENS MADE IT OFFICIAL TODAY, RE-SIGNING WITH THE ASTROS. THE ASTROS & CLEMENS AGENTS' OWE NEWSDAY AN APOLOGY, AS THEY BROKE THE STORY FIRST AND THEN ALL PARTIES DENIED THE INEVITABLE. WAY TO GO, NEWSDAY!!!!!
