The changing of the guard continues. As we reported yesterday, the Mets sent 2B/SS Kaz Matsui, he of the 20 million+ contract, lofty expectations & zero return-on-investment, to the Colorado Rockies for utlitiyman Eli Marrero. Marrero can play OF, IF & catch, which will come in handy later in the season as Castro plays more while PLD has his usual second-half slump. It's always great to have a super-sub on the roster, and Matsui was just a reminder of yet another move gone bad...remember George Foster? Jim Fregosi? Ellis Valentine? All had success elsewhere, and none with us....just like Kaz! We wish him well in the Rockies, and are sad that we never got to see the player we all thought he'd become.
