Major Notes From The Minor Leagues...

Last night, Mike Pelfrey had another strong outing, dominating Reading over seven shut-out innings, giving up 2 hits with one walk and 7 K's. This is the Pelfrey that makes major league executives drool, and fans squeal in delight, and we have to remember that we are in this for the long haul and don't want to rush Pelfrey to the majors until he is truly ready. Rather then calling for his promotion now or soon, we trust that Omar, Rick Peterson & all of the Mets' pitching experts will bring Pelfrey along at the right time and in the right situation. Henry Owens finished off the ninth for Pelfrey, striking out 2, and another pitcher gets healthy!!!

~Also last night, Victor Diaz went 3 for 4 and Jeff Keppinger (who?!) went 2 for 3. Dave Williams, our Cincinatti pick-up, pitched for a bit more than 2 innings, and gave up 5 earned runs, walked 4 and distanced himself even further from a major league promotion. Carlos Muniz picked up his league-leading 13th save last night for St. Lucie. Our man, Jesus Flores, doubled yesterday (not a homer but we'll take it!) and Fernando Martinez returned from his injury but went 0 for 4. Welcome back, Mr. Martinez! (Thanks to Toby Hyde for the info!)
