Miami QB Would Rather Be A Met Then A Hurricane!!!

The Mets drafted Miami Hurricanes' Quarterback Daniel Stegall in the 7th round in this week's draft, with what appeared to be slim chances of signing him (shades of Drew Henson, Kevin Kelly, et al). Well, sometimes the unexpected happens, and today Stegall announced he wanted to live his lifetime dream and decided to sign with the Mets! Stegall is an outfielder and pitcher, and his stats last year: as a hitter- .500 batting average with 30 RBI, and as a pitcher- 8-2 with a 1.52 ERA. He's six-foot two and one-hundred and eighty pounds, and was Miami's only scholarship quarterback. Scouts had him rated as a much higher pick, but teams backed off thinking him to be unsignable as nearly everyone believed he saw himself as a quarterback. Stegall will be reporting to St. Lucie next week, after he signs his bonus - in the $100,000 range. You can read more about this story in today's Miami Herald - a link is here. OMAR STRIKES AGAIN!!!!
