A Good Night - And A Weekend Away

~The Mets once again opened their series with a bang, beating the Rockies 6-3 at Shea. David Wright came out of his slump, going 2-4 with 2 RBI's, and Endy Chavez hit a 2-run shot to support starter Steve Trachsel. Trachs won his 12th, allowing 3 runs in seven innings, and Billy Wagner got the save, his 29th. A good night all around, and a good way to start the weekend that we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our last World Championship.

~Well, we lost out on Preston Wilson, as he signed for the rest of the season with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards need an OFer even more then we do, apparently, as Jim Edmonds is going to be out for a while. When searching through some Houston Astros blogs, a number of bloggers and posters were happy that Wilson was gone, with some implying that Wilson practically needs a wheelchair to get around in the outfield. Sad to see both his skills diminished as well as being sad that we won't see him again in a Mets uniform on the weekend that his dad is being honored.

~We know we promised the 3rd quarter report cards today, but we're going to have to wait until Monday to post them. Sorry about that- real world intrudes yet again. Also, there will probably be no posts this weekend, as John, Jonathan & I are all going to be away in various places to enjoy what little is left of this wonderful summer. Have a great weekend, and if anything major breaks, we'll be sure to let you know about it!
