Impressive Julio

Steve Popper at North Jersey.com writes about the initiave of Julio Franco:

Hours before the start of the game Julio Franco was making his way around the infield at Coors Field, fielding grounders at second and third despite not having played a game in the field anywhere but first this season.

Willie Randolph liked the initiative, noting that there could be a situation in the postseason where they could use a one-inning, emergency fill-in.

"He loves to work," Randolph said. But he quickly added, "It's not a bad idea, but I'm not going to start him there. I hope I don't have to use him there."
