Maine Comes Back To Earth, But Mets Win!

Well, it couldn't last forever- John Maine's streak of scoreless innings, that is. He didn't pitch terribly, but couldn't come up with the win in the Mets' 6-4 victory. The triple king, Jose Reyes, was at it again, and Carlos Beltran added one as well, and his RBI brought his total to a whopping 98- take THAT all of those nay-sayers who lambasted us for signing him last year!!!! Beltran is being touted as a candidate for comeback-player-of-the-year on mlb.com. At this point, even with the great return of the (much-injured) Nomar Garciaparra, we think Beltran is still most deserving of this award. It's a dubious distinction, for sure, because it means that he had something to come back from, but it's so great to see our team's decision to spend over 120 million of Mr. Wilpon's money on this signing and watch it come up roses, for a change. Gee- do you think Omar is STILL going to get grief for his signing?
