More on the Green front

Jack Magruder at The East Valley Tribune writes about Shawn Green and what has been going onwith the D-Backs and the Mets:

Diamondbacks outfielder Shawn Green reiterated Monday that he has neither been asked to waive his no-trade clause nor said that he would, but added that he could understand how the Mets might have jumped to that conclusion.

“It’s nothing but speculation,” Green said. “It might be something that has been inferred.”

Green has had occasional conversations recently with Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado, who is a close friend and a member of Green’s wedding party.

In an unattributed report Monday, the New York Post said Green has agreed to accept a trade to the Mets. “I haven’t agreed to anything yet,’’ Green said before Monday’s game.

At the same time, D-Backs manager Bob Melvin said trade talks with the Mets seem to have cooled. “It seemed there was more urgency several days ago,” Melvin said.

Green said he has been kept abreast of the Mets’ interest by D-Backs general manager Josh Byrnes, and that the two spoke when Byrnes was with the team in San Diego over the weekend.

“Not details. He said there have been discussions. The last time we talked, he didn’t know where things would end up,” Green said.
