Williams has calmed down

John Delcos at The Journal News writes about Dave Williams and how a change in scenery helped him:

The former Cincinnati Red talked about movies, living in Ohio and meeting Pete Rose.

He didn't show a twinge of nervousness. If one didn't know it, nobody would have guessed he was inside of two hours of starting his fourth game for the Mets this season.

Williams, who was optioned to Class AAA Norfolk a week ago in a convenience move so the team could bring up infielder Anderson Hernandez, is one of a handful of minor-leaguers the Mets promoted yesterday.

Williams and Bannister can make immediate contributions if if the Mets go to a six-man rotation, which theoretically will reduce the workload of the current starters, thereby keeping them fresher for the playoffs.
