NLCS Preview?

At MSG Network, they talk about the upcoming series between the Mets and Cardinals while calling it a possible NLCS match:

A postseason meeting between the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals is certainly possible. It may depend on whether they can consistently get good starting pitching.

In a matchup of pitchers who weren't even in their respective teams' rotations until last month, the Mets send John Maine to the mound to face Jeff Weaver and the Cardinals on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game set at Shea Stadium.

This series pits the league's top teams record-wise. New York (75-48) has a firm lead in the NL East, and St. Louis (66-57) is trying to hold off the second-place Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central.

"It's going to be great," Mets center fielder Carlos Beltran said of the series. "But I'm not thinking about the postseason right now. We just need to continue to win ballgames. We've got 1 1/2 months left of baseball."
